was looking forward to this trip since 2 months ago. All was planned….eat, play, drink, sleep and repeated in that order for 2 days straight…..well that was the initial plan anyway. Good to have a plan…not necessary to follow strictly…else it won’t be a holiday
We started the roadtrip a little behind schedule…..had a healthy Dim-Sum Breakfast….Remember, breakfast is the most important meal of the day…..whatever.
Little hic-cups and last minute stuff…but nevertheless, once we hit the highway….it was the beginning of a great holiday….yeah the excitement was as high as KLCC I think.
2 cars…..2 silver Wajas……zooming and zipping through the traffic and tearing up the tracks…….Nahhh, I exaggerate too much, after all WE ARE SAFE DRIVERS………most of the times :p
And they had the nerve to tell me I was driving slowly……..Hmmphh….I showed them…..Catchup if you can :p
Oh well, It’s all good……I think…….I haven’t check yet if there were any speeding summons issued.
The roadtrip was kinda long……we made a few stops before the resort. Took in some local tourist sites….Yeah, cuti-cuti Malaysia as one of my friend said
We went to Gua Tempurung first. The road there wasn’t easy and had to play ‘Dodge the BULLshit’, the damn stuff was like on the road everywhere. I felt like driving in a minefield. Ok about Gua Tempurung, It’s believed to date back to 8000 B.C. and is the largest limestone cave in Peninsula Malaysia. It was amazing to see the stalactites & stalagmites….my first so called cave expedition…..we weren’t dressed and ready for the Grand Tour…..so it was just the Golden Flowstone tour that was dry. It was dark and I kinda went slowly on account of my acrophobia (fear of heights) and the steep steps. Phewww I made it through……SAFE!!!
Next round we would go for "spelunking"…..if your eyes just rolled and you have a bewildered look on your face and went like "spe…lee….what???" Congratulations, you can join the rest of my bunch which gave me the same expression when I told them…..They even thought I made it up. IT IS THE TERM USED FOR EXPLORING CAVES. So there, now you know
Next stop we went to the famous Sam Poh Tong Temple, it was built into/within the limestone caves of Gunung Rapat….but instead ended up at Ling Seng Tong Temple….I later found out that the temple is just further down the road…..I can’t freaking fathom why they built 3 temples side-by-side next to each other. Anyways, a temple is a temple to me…….so I went to do the normal ritual of praying and burning jossticks for….ummm….about a dozen and a half of gods and deities. It’s a form of paying our respects and asking for blessing. Don’t go asking me what I pray for and what language I used…..like one of them did. My eyes went rolling…and scratch my head trying to comprehend the simple question but truly difficult answer. I guess it’s understandable since most of them were devoted christians.
After that we made a quick pit-stop at the Pamelo Paradise……it was a long stretch of stalls selling Pamelos. The funny and really akward thing was that they had all these women standing in front of each stall and these stalls had they own numbers like 23, 88, 64, 888, 9, 999…you get the idea. All of them went like shouting "lengchai", "yes, sir", "juicy one here"……yikes!!! I kinda find myself like walking down a brothel that had all these hookers with numbers on the rooms. I must complement Perak though for their well-knowned ability of producing beautiful "leng-luis". Please note I said lenglui…I never said anything about smart or sophisticated…they mostly generate AhLians :p …. "IPOH MALI MAH" I guess the rest of the AhBengs would just melt their wallets away for them…….NOT ME THOUGH. These Perak gals were kinda sweet looking…..tempted I was but had to restrained myself and my "other" self from straying off. We didn’t buy any Pamelo…..I guess the sight of the gals coming out of the stalls…ALL AT ONCE was a little overwhelming :p
After that we went to the well known Kellie’s Castle. It is an abandoned castle with secret rooms and underground tunnels which was the incomplete dream of Scottish planter, William Kellie Smith. It began in 1915 but construction halted with the sudden death of Wiiliam in 1926. It is a beautiful architecture and we climb to the top of the castle. The view from the TOP was AMAZING and scary too, REALLY scary….did I mentioned I have acrophobia??
We found 3 secret tunnels and 4 secret rooms. There was a Deer farm behind the castle and guess what?? there was just ONE lousy freaking LONELY PATHETIC looking deer.
We wasted…..nah not wasted…..just used up a little more time than planned. We proceed to our target destination, Damai Laut. We arrived there about 6pm. Along the way we enjoyed the countryside scenery of paddy fields and what-nots…….stuffs you find in a kampung.
We checked in into Swiss Court apartments and the first thing we did was swimming. Everyone changed and we got to the pool to swim…it was getting dark…so we asked them to turned on the lights. The answer that came was a suprised that caught me like a left hook on my cheek. They said they are no lights for the pool area. I was like What the FUCK??? Shit…..that put a damper on our spirits…..swimming in darknest….oh hell…Fuck It.
Soon after, we retired to the Sauna Room. There is one in each changing room. Ladies and gents, but we figured…what the hell…it’s only us anyway in the area…..let’s all head for the gents. The sauna was great…sweat it out like a pig…..I find it difficult to sweat at first…..my friend said I had too much toxin in my body….I guess it must be……or is it……hmmmm???
After a healthy swim and sweat ….. we bathe and then it was time for dinner. As we didn’t wanted to go out to town………we thought it was just too far and it was already 9.30pm. We settle to try the Ramadhan Buffet dinner at the Hotel. The only issue here was that there was not much left and they were gonna close the buffet in 30 mins time. We requested them to extend just a little longer and after some negotiating….all was agreed. The scene that ensued was like a pack of hungry wolves that went hunting. We went for every available dish, we grabbed….ikan bakar, satay, beef steak, curry mee, rice, prawn, crab, fruits, desserts, and everthing still edible……that’s what I call getting your money’s worth.
It came to a point that we just didn’t have space to put the food. I guess gluttony is truly one of the 7 deadly sins. We enjoyed our dinner and were literally stuffed like turkeys for thanksgiving. The only irritating thing through out the dinner was the band at the lounge playing mostly Black Eyed Peas songs…..and not doing justice to the songs. I was ready to give the singers a BLack Eye of my own. Word of advice….If you cant sing, DON’T!!! We headed back to the apartment for more fun and…….booze after dinner.
The night was young and we are all young…..sounds like an overdone cliche….but hey…it’s damn true. We wanted to start pictionary….but one person went MIA…….so called "night time con-call"…..we know what that means….so we waited. We played a few rounds of "chor tai dee" while waiting then proceeded to start Pictionary first……..we just couldn’t waited anymore.
Pictionary was a blast…….lotsa funny scribblings and it was a real test of our forgotten "art" skills. Really a good game that livens up the party. Why not? when you have a crazy gang and beer plus liquor….everything’s good
We retired only at 4am……man we were pooped. Slept till 12pm……had a light breakfast then off to the hotel. We went for a quick tour of all the facilities and activities avaialble…….decided to just hang at the beach. The beach wasn’t too encouraging…..same goes for the water as well. Played a little footie, volleyball, monkey :p
We tried to get a tan…..but I guess it didn’t happen. Oh well, to the swimming pool……or so we thought. SHIT!!! we gotta pay to use the freaking DAMN pool?? WTF?? This is totally outrageous. What a load of Fucking crap!!! It’s because the Apartments and Hotel are run by separate management. This explains alot why there is a gap between the facilities and service in the 2 places. Man, I was pissed.
We decided to ditch the fucking pool….seeing as we gotta pay anyway…..we might as well get our money’s worth…..so off to the sauna & jacuzzi. The cool thing is you get the whole place to yourself for one freaking whole hour……..hmmmm I should imagine what great escapades could have been arranged next time around
The sauna was alright….the jacuzzi was refreshing. When we were done soaking and sweating…..some of us turned RED like a lobster, we headed back to the apartment. Shower & bathe…….then off to the most important activity, DINNER!!!
We learnt our mistake and went out for dinner earlier……..we went to a restaurant in Kg.Cina and ordered seafood for dinner. Crabs, Prawn, fish, shellfish, clams and etc etc.
It was all good and eating with a bunch of spicy freaks is interesting as the only two words we kept asking the waiter was, "kak, ada chili?" and "sambal lagi pls!!". That’s what I call Hot & hilarious…….especially when the chili kicks in
We wanted to play a little snooker and Pool after dinner, but the actitivies room was closed. Ended up back at the apartment for more drinking and other fun stuff. I missed out alot on the after activities……Why? simple…I had a freaking sudden migraine attack. Pop two tablets…and off to LaLa-land I went. I was told that they had fun that night….Shucks!!
Got up early morning and had a wholesome breakfast at the hotel then back for a quick swim and sauna just before we pack to leave. After packing and checking out, it was 1.30pm. We decided to have lunch in Bidor, but halfway to town…..we changed our mines and had a last feast of seafood….AGAIN!!!
So lunch was seafood, we had fish, crabs, prawn, osyters, clams, shellfish and etc. So stuffed and still feeling the heat of the sambal on our lips, the roadtrip back to KL begun.
The roads were longer this time it seemed and winding too. Lucky we had lunch else we would be starving like hell.
Once we hit the highway, it was a cat & mouse game all the way back to KL. I clocked in at 192km/h, but I didn’t dare push it to hit 200km/h. Why? simple….I love my car AND I’m broke to have anything fixed.
We later had dinner in Vietnam Kitchen, 1 Utama to finish of what’s left of the liquor and yes, to eat again. We laughed, retold jokes, view pictures taken, and planned for the next trip. Efficient aren’t we??
Memorable points to note fron the trip:
Great company of friends for the trip…..especially if they love SPICY FOOD!!!
Wonderful SEAFOOD, SEAFOOD, SEAFOOD……and yeah, SEAFOOD.
Theme song for the trip "Black Eyed Peas - My Humps"
Theme words for the trip…. "Bring It On", "It’s All Good", "Fuck It" and "Very Good, Congratulations"
Pictionary is FUN, and definitely livens up the party…….recommended for 6-20 people groups.
Liquor, beer, liquor, beer…..and Ahhhhh Liquor
Swimming and sauna……till I looked like a lobster
Final words……IT WAS A GREAT WEEKEND AWAY AND A WONDERFUL TRIP.
